BEAT MONTHLY MAGAZINE 1963

Below, the adverts placed by Vox (JMI) in "Beat Monthly" magazine in 1963. Click on the thumbnails for larger versions.

Aimed squarely at professional musicians, "Beat Monthly" (later "Beat Instrumental"), was the only magazine in which Vox regularly advertised. There were of course flyers, brochures, pages in concert programmes (two examples immediately below), and so on - but nothing to match number and quality.

The designs above are deliberately generic to allow for multiple re-uses. The one on the right was used in programmes for The Animals, The Searchers, as well as The Beatles. Text and banner were naturally adjusted to suit.

The drawings and designs in Beat Instrumental are far more sophisticated - most are pretty fabulous.
